Offshore Wind

Hollandse Kust (West Beta)

Transport and installation of the Hollandse Kust (West Beta) Jacket and Offshore Substation.

Over the course of a year, our team aboard the SSCV Sleipnir successfully completed the offshore installation of the Hollandse Kust West Beta (HKW-B) platform for the Joint Venture Equans Smulders, and end-client TenneT.

The first milestone was achieved during the Pentecost weekend of 2024, when the 49-meter-long, 2,100 mt jacket was safely placed on the seabed and anchored with piles driven over 50 meters deep. This fast-track operation was delivered on time, within budget, and safe, thanks to the dedication and safety-first mindset of our crew.

On May 21, 2025, the final phase was completed with the seamless installation of the nearly 4,000 mt topside. Lifted from the H-406 barge and placed onto the pre-installed jacket in a single operation, this marked the final offshore construction milestone for the HKW-B platform.

The project was widely recognized for its scale and significance, with national media coverage highlighting its role in the Netherlands’ energy transition. Once operational, the platform will deliver 700 MW of offshore wind energy to the Dutch grid, which is enough to power over 700,000 households.

On behalf of TenneT, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for your role in achieving this major milestone. It was accomplished in a safe, professional, and well-prepared manner — for that, I am truly grateful. I especially want to highlight the atmosphere onboard: one of transparency, trust, collaboration, and above all, safety.” – Robert Koens, Project Manager at TenneT Nederland.
