Feed study & Construction

In 2011 HFG Engineering was awarded the contract for the FEED Study of the Gina Krog (previously Dagny) jacket by Equinor. After the successful FEED study Equinor awarded Heerema Vlissingen the engineering, procurement and construction contract in February 2013 for the Launch jacket and pre-drilling wellhead module.

The FEED design study was performed in two phases. In the first phase a FEED study for a lift jacket has been developed. As the boundary conditions changed, the weight of the jacket became even more critical with regards to lift capacity. Reason for Equinor to decide for a second phase FEED study, being the development of a launch jacket concept. Equinor selected the launch jacket as the concept for the Gina Krog platform.

Heerema Vlissingen constructed the over 17,000 tons jacket within 17 months time and in June 2015 the Launch jacket started its journey for final destination, the Gina Krog field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
