Your role in the story
New ideas pop up continuously inside and out. As a Development Engineer you will test and shape these ideas, understanding how they fit with our offshore reality. You help mature an idea through fast-paced cycles, tapping into the technical knowledge within the company and collaborating with external parties. Sometimes this leads to a million-dollar concept, other times to a patent, a publication and unfortunately sometimes the discovery of a showstopper. Your daily activities and responsibilities are very diverse and you are free to organize yourself within your team. Can you see yourself involved in the following activities?
- Engaging in development projects in and outside of your core technical expertise, at any level of readiness. Would you like to be involved in the conceptualization of a new vessel for the installation of new generation wind park offshore substations in the North Sea?
- Learning about new technologies within a certain topic and collaborating with external partners, suppliers, research institutions and even competitors to leverage expertise and drive innovation. You could for instance be owner of a topic like machine automation, driving projects like crane automation and next generation dynamic positioning; the options are endless!
Who will you work with?
You will work closely with a diverse group of experts from many nationalities and all departments such as the Heerema Simulation Centre, Marine-, Structural-, Equipment-, Commercial- & Operations Department. In the morning you might be discussing the technical details of steel with a colleague from the structural department, at noon the execution schedule with a project manager and in the afternoon brainstorming for new thesis topics for floating wind installation methods with old friends at the TUDelft or MARIN.
