Mate 2 Tug

At Heerema Marine Contractors, we do something new every day. We operate the world’s largest crane vessels and with them we transport, install and remove offshore structures for the offshore energy markets. Our projects range from installing wind turbines, removing retired offshore oil and gas platforms and installing platforms up to 50,000 metric tons. Your role in the story

As Mate 2 Tug you are responsible for watch keeping and navigating in accordance with "Captain's orders" and international laws and regulations. You will operate the DP system and contribute to safety activities. Furthermore you will make yourself familiar with procedures and ISM, track and update sea charts, check instruments, keep the logbook, monitor weather forecast and take timely action when necessary. As a last you are aware of the position of the ship, perform tasks when the ship is anchored, maintain radio contact and keep an eye on all occurring movements.

Who will you work with?

In this position you will work closely with and will be guided by our experienced and professional nautical crew.

This position requires a ‘hands-on’ Mate with a Dutch secondary / bachelor Nautical degree, Licensed Mate and DPO Certified with 3 to 8 years’ relevant (offshore) working experience in a similar role together with a practical, problem solving, result oriented mindset. Excellent reporting skills, a practical and learning mindset as well as the ability to communicate in a strong and clear manner, both in Dutch and English, are essential.
