Supporting our client in their development of a motion compensated gripper frame to install XXL monopiles.

Challenge

Our Client is developing a motion compensated gripper frame to install XXL monopiles with their floating assets. We are supporting this development with project engineering, hydrodynamic analysis, geotechnical analysis, and control system design.

Actions

We have provided input on the design and the general installation procedure. Analysis has been performed using software such as Plaxis (Geotechnical), OrcaFlex, Liftdyn (Hydrodynamic) and, Matlab/Simulink/Simscape (Control).

Benefits

The motion compensated gripper frame has moved from Technical Readiness Level (TRL) 1 to TRL 5.
